Spare Wheel Anti-Theft Protection Plate in Stainless Steel ( Type 1 ) for Land Rover Discovery 5 You may (or may not!) be aware that the Discovery 5 has suffered from a widespread problem of spare wheel thefts. The spare wheel is carried underneath the car and secured in place with a cable and winch. Thieves simply cut the cable accessed through the wheel spokes and release the valuable wheel and tyre – easy pickings! This anti-theft protection plate nests inside the spare wheel and blocks that access to the winch cable. It’s worth checking under your car to see if your wheel is there as you wouldn’t necessarily realise it’s missing until you need it! Land Rover did release a revised winch with an anti-theft sleeve but this is still far from an ideal solution. We have developed this anti-theft plate to block access to the cable and help prevent it being cut. These are made in the UK to our own design and specification as we wanted to improve on the products currently on the market. This plate is made from 2mm Stainless Steel so will not rust or corrode – important given it’s exposure and location on the vehicle. This plate is super strong with robust welding across 4 large anchor points. This is a worthwhile investment compared to the cost of replacing your valuable wheel and tyre. If your wheel is stolen you’d also need buy a new winch too as the thieves cut the cable – this plate is much cheaper than a winch alone! This disc has been tested on 19″ 20″ 21″ and 22″ wheels and it fits all these sizes.
